The Scottsdale Artists’ School hosted an all-day demonstration with two of
America’s foremost landscape painters, Matt Smith and Kevin Macpherson Saturday,
November 8, 2008.
The demonstrations were held across the street from the school at the
Stagebrush Theatre. Matt Smith started the day and Kevin Macpherson began
after lunch.
Following the demonstrations, the Scottsdale Artists' School hosted a
reception for the artist’s and the participants, where Smith and Macpherson’s
work was exhibited. Students enrolled in both demonstrations were able to
submit a digital image ahead of time for Smith and Macpherson to critique during
the 9 AM Sunday morning Coffee & Critique.

The event was also taped by Oak Creek Productions.
They are producing two DVD's of the demonstration (one for each artist).

Kevin Macpherson
Kevin MacPherson one of the country’s leading

Painters of America, Kevin is a popular instructor, guest
lecturer, and art juror throughout the country and abroad.
His painting workshops are highly attended, often selling out

Matt Smith
Most of the time, Matt can be found painting en plein air from southern Arizona
to the Canadian Rockies or from the California coast to the mountains of
Colorado. He comments: "I respect the tradition behind classical landscape
painting, and I’m particularly inspired by pristine locations. I enjoy
working in areas where one can travel for miles without seeing the influence of
man. When I paint, I feel I’ve hit the mark when I’ve captured a balance
